If you ever had any doubt about how fast things are going south at elance...check out the discussion board. Seems starting the evening of 04/10/01 and continuing periodically through 04/11/01, private messages are showing up on the general discussion thread. Makes for great entertainment if you're feeling bored. I'm assuming the new basic subscription rate for the priviledge of bidding for projects is actually going to pay for hiring several "qualified select Providers" to fix the programing on the site. Posted At 13:52:22 04/11/2001 Actually, one of the eLance moderators came in and said the messages being posted were from the RFP public boards, and not the private boards - which is ridiculous if you read what was being posted. This eLance rep was either being misled by eLance, or he thinks the providers are idiots. Of course, within five minutes numerous providers answered him about his ignorance of the facts. I find the saddest part is their inaction to notify their customers (buyers & providers) of this glitch - or maybe even just shut down the site until it was repaired. The handling of this situation is just indicative of the fundamental flaw with the site management. Jackie |

Posted At 15:45:48 04/11/2001 Before too much longer we'll start seeing URLs and usernames and passwords that were posted in private message boards, getting posted to the Discussion Board. Just think of the impact this will have if these passwords and such are for service providers to configure the buyers iBill, PayPal, or other financial account. |
